How much does a car wrap cost?

By Wrap Destination, Cruquius · 21 October 2026

In short

According to Dutch insurer Univé, a full wrap of a passenger car in the Netherlands costs between €500 and €5,000. For good quality Univé quotes €1,500 to €2,000, for top quality €3,500 to €5,000. What you pay depends mainly on the size and shape of your car, the film you choose and how many parts have to come off.

What are you actually paying for with a wrap?

Mostly for hours. The vinyl itself is only part of the price. Top Gear Netherlands once calculated that the film is about a quarter of the total; the rest is skilled labour. A full wrap is not a sticker you put on in an afternoon. The work looks roughly like this:

  1. Thoroughly washing and degreasing the car and checking it for paint damage.
  2. Removing parts that get in the way of the film, such as handles, badges, lights and sometimes bumpers.
  3. Applying the film panel by panel, without stretching it too far.
  4. Wrapping and trimming the edges, without cutting into the paint.
  5. Post-heating, so the film holds its new shape in curves and recesses.
  6. Refitting everything and checking the car over once more.

At Wrap Destination a full wrap usually takes three to five working days. The more curves, spoilers and air intakes a car has, the longer it takes and the more film is needed.

Which factors determine the price?

What pushes the price of a wrap up or down
FactorWhy it matters
Size of the carAn SUV or estate has more surface area than a small hatchback. More film, more hours.
Shape and detailsDeep bumpers, spoilers and sharp creases take time. A clean design with flat panels is done faster.
Type of filmStandard colours in gloss, satin or matte are the most affordable. Special films such as chrome or colour shift are more expensive and harder to work with.
Door jambs and sillsIf you do not want to see the old colour when the doors are open, the insides have to be done too. That is extra work.
Condition of the paintFilm does not hide dents or rust. Loose paint has to be repaired first, otherwise it can later come off together with the film.
DisassemblyThe more has to come off for clean edges, the more hours. You see the difference mainly around handles, lights and badges.

What does a partial wrap cost?

You do not have to do the whole car. Many people choose just the roof, the mirror caps or a chrome delete of the window trims and grille. That is less work and so a lot cheaper than a full colour change. A black roof on a light-coloured car, or black accents instead of chrome, already gives a noticeably different look.

Why do quotes differ so much?

Two quotes for the same car can be hundreds of euros apart. Usually the difference comes down to three things.

The film. There is cast film and calendered film. Cast film is more expensive, but stays put better in curves and lasts longer. Cheap calendered film shrinks back over time, which makes edges lift. In how long does a wrap last you can read about the difference.

What gets taken apart. Someone who cuts around handles and badges is finished sooner. You see it later in edges that lift earlier or old colour showing through.

What is included. Door jambs, a warranty on the installation, registering the colour with the RDW. Ask with every quote what is and is not included.

Wrap Destination works with film from 3M, Avery Dennison and Madico. You get a one-year warranty on the installation and, on top of that, three to seven years of manufacturer's warranty on the film, depending on brand and type.

Is a wrap for a few hundred euros a good idea?

If you see a full wrap for a few hundred euros, ask more questions. For that money there is almost always cheap film on the car, little gets taken apart or the job is done in a day. It often looks fine when you collect the car. The problems come after a few months: edges lifting at the handles, film shrinking back in the bumper, and colour showing through at the seams. Fixing that still costs money, and removing cheap film with poor adhesive is more work than removing good film.

A good question for any wrapper is: which film do you use, which parts come off, and what does the installation warranty cover. An honest answer to those three questions tells you more than the price alone.

What extra costs should you factor in?

The RDW. If your car changes colour, you have to register that with the RDW (the Dutch vehicle authority), even if the wrap is temporary. It is free. How that works is explained in car wraps and the RDW.

Your insurance. Univé treats a wrap as an accessory and covers €3,000 of accessories as standard. Other insurers may handle it differently, so tell them about the wrap and check.

Removal. A wrap comes off again at some point, and that is work too. If you have it removed in time, it goes faster and the paint comes out clean underneath.

Frequently asked questions

Is wrapping cheaper than a respray?

Usually, yes, if you compare a full wrap with a complete good-quality respray. A respray does last longer. The difference is explained in wrap or respray.

Is a wrap more expensive for an SUV?

Yes, almost always. An SUV has more surface area and often larger bumpers, so it takes more vinyl and more time.

How long does a full wrap take?

At Wrap Destination usually three to five working days, depending on the model and how much has to be taken apart.

What should I send for a quote?

Make, model, year, the colour or film you want and a few photos of the car. Then we can give you a price that is accurate.

Do I have to report a wrap to the RDW?

Yes, if the colour of your car changes. It is free and you get a new registration certificate.

What does it cost for your car?

Send your make, model and the film you want. You get a price for your car, not an average.
